Head of Philanthropy (Major Donors)

£48,374pa

Living Planet Centre, Woking, Surrey

A philanthropy fundraising expert, the Head of Philanthropy (Major Donors) will act as WWF’s key liaison with some of the UK’s largest family foundations and leading philanthropists building long term relationships and inspiring their support for the environmental crisis. This is a senior and key role and your contribution will deliver on major projects and long-term goals within WWF.

You will take the strategic lead in delivering excellent stewardship to donors and driving new business to hit or exceed ambitious targets.  In addition to establishing a personal portfolio of recurring funding relationships with major donors and foundations, you will co-chair a small team, coaching and sharing your expertise to drive forward and grow our philanthropy programme.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues across WWF to produce visionary propositions around our strategic priorities that win support and influence six and seven-figure gifts for specific initiatives. Importantly, you will ensure that these important supporters feel engaged and enjoy an outstanding experience as a supporter of WWF. You will also support and help grow our 2030 Circle.

To play your part in saving our planet, you will probably be educated to degree level and have substantial experience in fundraising and a track record of success in securing major gifts. A consummate networker and influencer, a diplomat and persuader with outstanding verbal and written communication skills, you will excel at building relationships and producing winning bids and proposals. You should have some management experience or be able to demonstrate an ability to lead, manage, motivate and develop individuals to work to the best of their ability. You must be comfortable working in a range of cultural environments and international contexts with a willingness to travel. Of course, you will be able to demonstrate a commitment to the natural world and WWF’s core mission too.

If you have the necessary skills to join us and fight for your world, please click on the link and apply via our website. Complete the online registration and submit a copy of your up-to-date CV with cover letter highlighting your major gift experience and what makes you a good fit for us.

Every role at WWF is open to applications from all sections of society. We believe in the potential of everyone regardless of; race, religion or belief, ethnic origin, different physical ability, family structure, socio-economics, age, nationality or citizenship, marital, domestic or civil partnership, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other aspect that makes you, well you.  Here at WWF we’re committed to conscious inclusion that helps cultivate an ethos of belonging, connection, and shared purpose.  We believe that the more diverse we are the better we become; this brings us together and empowers us to develop, engage and inspire; and critically to help build a future where people can live in harmony with nature.

Our policies and benefits reflect the importance of people being able to have a good work-life balance and being able to bring their ‘full self’ to work.

Our world needs you like never before. We are the first generation to know we are destroying the world and we could be the last that can do anything about it. We’re looking for people who are passionate about making it politically, socially and economically unacceptable to destroy our planet’s natural resources. We need you to join us in the fight for our world.
