We’re looking for a Chief Executive Officer to drive the growth of Young Citizens, and ensure that citizenship becomes an increasingly integral part of education in the UK.

Closing date: Monday 26th April

Today’s young citizens are shining a light on critical issues such as Climate Change, Black Lives Matter and LGBT+ rights. The potential for the UK’s youth to actively drive true change and impact within society, through campaigning and education, has never been greater.

Young Citizens is a national charity working to promote citizenship education and social action throughout primary and secondary education in the UK. We operate as a crucial support system for young people and educators alike. Through a range of initiatives, including education programmes such as the Make a Difference Challenge and Democracy Ambassadors, and immersive learning experiences such as the National Bar Mock Trials, Young Citizens actively engages over 350,000 children aged 5-18 years old every year. We operate at the intersection of politics, the law, social action and the media, and the work we do has never been more important or influential.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join and lead Young Citizens and build a stronger and more effective organisation that champions active citizenship for life.

As our next Chief Executive, you join us at a pivotal time. With a 30-year heritage, a respected position in education and education policy, and a highly energised team, we are looking for a strategic and hands-on leader who can help us work smarter and improve our impact in a post-pandemic world.

You must have social action in your DNA. You must also be aligned to our values, have a track-record that demonstrates commercial acumen and innovation in business development and fundraising, be able to galvanize teams and effectively engage senior stakeholders, including policy makers and the media.

If you think this describes you – and you care passionately about empowering future generations of young citizens to positively shape society – then please get in touch. All the details are on our website
