Our client is now looking for a highly experienced farm animal welfare scientist to join the Food Business team. The role will also provide technical support for food business tools, corporate engagement, and communications. Cross-species knowledge with a focus on poultry and pigs is required.
This is a vital role within our client's Food Business Programme and offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact for farm animal welfare within a dynamic team and influential global organisation. Importantly, there is plenty of scope to bring your own creativity, voice, and novel approach to driving change for farm animals.

Global Head of Research (Food Business) Requirements:

• The right candidate will have a proven scientific background, excellent practical knowledge of farm animal welfare, and a commercial awareness of livestock production.
• You will need to be output driven and solutions focussed, working collaboratively to embed knowledge, and communicating with confidence to inspire change.
• The role will require developing and delivering multiple workflows to deadline and within budget, as well as coordinating and integrating the technical function across international teams, with a strong problem solving ‘can do’ attitude.

About our client:

They are the leading international farm animal welfare charity, campaigning to improve the lives of millions of farm animals through advocacy, lobbying for legislative change, and positive engagement with the global food industry. Their established international Food Business programme aims to raise baseline standards for farm animals by securing commitments, ensuring compliance and facilitating implementation of higher welfare policies and practices. In addition, they aim to drive corporate meat reduction strategies and targets in line with planetary health requirements, via their newly launched Rethinking Food workstream.

Their work is based on scientific evidence and best practice and as such they are recognised as the credible partner on farm animal welfare to the major food retailers, food service companies, manufacturers and producers.

Their HQ is located in bright, modern offices; just 2 minutes’ walk from Godalming mainline station (45 minutes from London Waterloo). Regular travel to Thailand will be required and potentially also to the wider Asia Pacific region, dependent upon opportunities.
