Spitalfields Crypt Trust (“SCT”) is an east London charity, founded in 1965, helping people whose lives have been devastated by experience of homelessness and addiction. Our hope is that they might realise life transformation. To partner with their change process, SCT offers a compassionate community, housing programmes and the skilled care of high-quality recovery support and training services.

We are now seeking the appointment of our next Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) to help us achieve more of our missional and vital ambitions.

From the beginning, we have sought to base our work and relationships on the life and teaching of Jesus and SCT retains a vibrant and inclusive Christian ethos to this day. The life of Jesus was characterised by love – a love which was honest and challenging but, above all, accepting and forgiving. Our highly committed and motivated team seek to demonstrate similar characteristics in coming alongside people in great need where they are at.

Today, SCT runs homeless drop-in and advice services, a 16-bed residential recovery centre as well as two move-on houses, a training and development centre, a new Housing First project, eight charity shops, an online shop and two social enterprises, all supporting people in recovery from addiction.

The Board of Trustees are seeking a CEO who will maximise the opportunities to further improve and develop our services, and bring wisdom and clarity in navigating the challenges we face. We are looking for a leader who will balance an inspiring vision and a strategic approach with high levels of emotional intelligence and relational ability. Above all, we are seeking someone who is able to demonstrate Jesus’ compassionate heart for the vulnerable within a model of best practice and high quality.

Please do read our information pack to consider whether you might invest your passions and gifts to help SCT to help many more people enjoy lifelong recovery within a loving and supportive community.
