COMMUNITIES COMING TOGETHER

We all want to make Doncaster a friendlier place to live and address the serious issue of loneliness and isolation across the generations of the borough. The Social Isolation Alliance is a group of organisations working together to tackle head on this growing issue and improve the lives of those affected.

The consortium members represent the public, voluntary and faith sectors and support each other in associated strategic and operational issues. Commissioned funding via Doncaster Council has seed funded the project and will enable growth, development and sustainability to ensure alignment with identified key priorities.

Post COVID-19, these ambitions are more important and vital to a place that has seen community engagement grow, localities support one another and a determination to collaborate at every level to achieve success.

This is a new, exciting 3 year fixed term contract and challenging role which signals Doncaster’s commitment to reducing loneliness and social isolation, especially amongst the boroughs most vulnerable residents. We are looking for a highly motivated person with a passion for improving communities and enabling change. The successful applicant will lead the initiative, reporting into the lead organisation Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust. The position will be the overall champion maintaining a close working relationship with all Alliance members, promoting services and specific projects.

Managing local programmes through positive engagement of community representatives and identifying new communities that would benefit from alliance support. Key will be sustaining and growing delivery through extensive knowledge of national strategy enabling access to funding streams to build the community and voluntary sector work.

You will be confident and self-motivated with an empathy to the client groups this role will directly work with. Your background may not be in the voluntary sector, but you will have an innate ability to understand the complex nature of partnership working across diverse communities.   Experience of writing and submitting funding bids is important in ensuring the long term sustainability of the Alliance and in supporting the most vulnerable in the borough by income generation and project viability.
