Volunteer Workforce Development Manager
Saron, Carmarthenshire

Skanda Vale Hospice is seeking a Volunteer Workforce Development Manager. This is a rare opportunity to be a part, not just of a beautiful hospice project, but a genuinely innovative community care movement.

Founded by Skanda Vale multi-faith monastery, Skanda Vale Hospice is the first and only inpatient hospice in the UK to be run by professional volunteers.

The hospice offers truly bespoke, whole-person care to meet the personal, emotional, practical, physical and spiritual needs of adults with life-limiting illnesses.

Good palliative care is all about the expression of love and care through the tiny details of everyday life. You will help keep us working in harmony with this simple truth by helping us manage and train the volunteers and staff who deliver our services.

Specifically, you will manage the activities of our Recruitment, Human Resources and Training & Development teams. By creating highly effective, mission-focused training and management processes, you will help to transform the lives of patients, their families and, not least, the team members themselves.

You will be a compassionate individual who is looking for an opportunity to put your skills to good use in the following ways:

- Operating at a senior level in a highly regulated public-facing organisation
- Establishing systems and processes to ensure organisational excellence
- Motivating, empowering and developing volunteers
- Partnership-building and maintaining effective relationships
- Change-management and continuous improvement
- Managing risk

The Volunteer Workforce Development Manager can start straight away. Initially, you can work remotely to help redesign our processes, in time for an anticipated relaunch later this Spring. After the pandemic, a certain amount of physical presence at the hospice will also be important.

No doubt, this will be a life-changing opportunity for the right person.

The hospice site at Saron is an easy commute from Carmarthen and close to the Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire borders. To find out more about becoming our Volunteer Workforce Development Manager please click the apply button.

Other organisations may call this role Workforce Development Manager, Organisational Development Manager, Senior Workforce Development Officer, HR Manager, Human Resources Manager, HR & Recruitment Manager, or Workforce Planning Manager.

Webrecruit and Skanda Vale Hospice value diversity and are strongly committed to inclusion and equal opportunities for all. So, if you’re looking for your next challenge as a Volunteer Workforce Development Manager, we look forward to hearing from you.

This vacancy is being advertised by Webrecruit. The services advertised by Webrecruit are those of an Employment Agency.

Company

We are an independent hospice founded in 1993 by monks and nuns from Skanda Vale multi-faith monastery. One unique feature of our hospice is that we have very few paid staff – our team is made up, almost entirely, of highly skilled volunteers.
