Would you like to lead the Marketing and Communications function for the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen), an independent, not-for-profit organisation producing Britain’s most important social policy research?
The scope, profile and quality of our work means policy makers, key stakeholders and influencers, the national and regional media, as well as the public, are all interested in our outputs but there is also significant potential to grow the brand and our impact further.
This is an exciting new role at NatCen, at a crucial time, whether with the current global pandemic, the Government’s desire to level up the country, concerns around poverty and inequalities or with climate change.
Through our landmark surveys, including the British Social Attitudes Survey, our ground-breaking work from early years to when we’re elderly, or our unique in-depth studies with hard to reach groups, we aim to increase understanding about people and society and drive positive change.
What we are looking for
You will be a Communications leader with the vision, passion and track record to develop and deliver an approach to Marketing & Communications that increases awareness of our brand and outputs, offering a window on society and the lives of people in Britain today. You will help diversify our research into new topic areas, including by identifying new audiences.
You will have ownership for developing and leading the direction, design and delivery of all aspects of Marketing, Brand and Communications work, internally and externally, raising our profile and brand in the marketplace, and supporting the growth of an ambitious and progressive organisation
A talented and experienced professional, you will lead and shape all media and social media activity, champion and drive strong internal comms throughout the organisation to ensure the delivery of integrated campaigns, aligned to our mission and vision
What you'll need to succeed
Your knowledge of communication disciplines, leading on external and internal comms, marketing, digital engagement and events. You will have good networks, know how to drive campaigns and evaluate their success, have an interest in social policy and research and have experience using new media, digital engagement and campaigning.
As a self-starter, you will set the focus, role model and motivate your team, network and influence successfully, internally and externally.
