A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full time Senior Special Events Officer to join the Fundraising team at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.
SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, supports the person behind the uniform; any time they need us, in any way they need us, for as long as they need us. Every year, SSAFA helps more than 82,000 people from the Forces family to get back on their feet; those currently serving, reserves, veterans and their families. Support is there for people at any stage in their military career; from the youngest recruit to the oldest veteran – no one’s service is ever forgotten. We give hope, help and personal support for as long as it takes to get that person’s life back to where they want it to be.
About the role
We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic individual to join the busy Events team at SSAFA. You will be responsible for managing the Special Events portfolio including our Defence Industry Charitable Dinner- a fundraising dinner for around 400 guests, hosted by the Chief of Defence Staff- and our Corporate Friends scheme as well as a variety of ‘in aid of’ events. The role holder will also need to actively seek out new fundraising opportunities to expand the Special Events income steam. You will need to work to agreed budgets as well as input to the setting of financial targets.
The post holder will work closely with the Head of Events and will lead on organising events and maximising income for the Special Events budget line.
About you
To carry out this role successfully you will have an understanding of the charity sector and ideally a background of working in charity events. You will be hard working, conscientious and have high attention to detail. In addition, you will demonstrate the ability to develop positive relationships with our supporters in order to manage and grow existing partnerships and carve out new opportunities.
SSAFA is an employer that values the diversity of its workforce and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
No agencies please. Any unsolicited submissions from agencies will be accepted as a direct application from the candidate and no fees will be payable.
To apply, visit SSAFA’s website
Closing date: Midnight on 28th February
Interviews: Beginning 4th March- 10th March. If you are invited to attend an interview you will be required to undertake an aptitude test
