Volunteer Head of Operations

Skanda Vale Hospice is seeking a Volunteer Head of Operations to provide strategic leadership in a uniquely innovative and compassionate community setting.

Founded by Skanda Vale multi-faith monastery, Skanda Vale Hospice is the first and only inpatient hospice in the UK to be run entirely by professional volunteers. The hospice offers truly bespoke, whole-person care to meet the personal, emotional, practical, physical and spiritual needs of adults with lifelimiting illnesses.
Good palliative care is all about the expression of love through the tiny details of everyday life.

You will help keep our teams working in harmony with this simple truth by ensuring our equipment, environments and administrative processes all work beautifully. You will be a compassionate individual with a history of leadership excellence who is looking for an opportunity to put a lifetime of skills to good use. You will join our leadership team at an exciting time of change as we prepare to launch new services and working processes after the pandemic. You will have warmth, empathy, confidence and be a great communicator.

You may have managed services for vulnerable people before and will have experience in:

• Leading and managing different operational areas simultaneously at a senior level
• Establishing new systems and processes.
• Managing risk, measuring outcomes and evaluating impact.

 
The time commitment for the Volunteer Head of Operations will be one day a week at the beautiful hospice building, in addition to 30-60 mins per day remotely (with availability via phone, email and pre-arranged online meetings). The hospice site at Saron is an easy commute from Carmarthen and close to the Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire borders.
