Job Details

Food Sustainability Manager

In their mission to end factory farming of food animals, our client is developing an ambitious plan to drive systemic change for a Sustainable Food System at the global level. This includes a new objective to rebalance the production and consumption of animal products. Their approach will be to engage with food companies and major corporations via a two-prong approach:

- High level engagement at CEO level with influential corporations in aid of systemic change

- Food Business engagement with leading food companies to drive change in production and consumption patterns (as well as welfare)

They are now looking for an experienced sustainability manager to join their Food Business team.

Food Sustainability Manager Responsibilities:

The Food Sustainability Manager is a new and exciting role and will be responsible for the development and ongoing management of a new protein rebalancing and benchmarking tool. These tools will be appropriate for food businesses and will be in line with their target to reduce consumption of meat, fish, dairy and eggs by 50% in high-consuming countries by 2035 and by 50% globally by 2050.

Responsibilities will also include tracking developments in the global protein diversification market. By providing a new framework for change, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact for farmed animals and sustainable food production within a dynamic team and influential organisation.

Food Sustainability Manager Requirements:

The right candidate will have proven experience of developing tools/benchmarking systems to drive change and will be commercially astute.

You’ll also have proven knowledge and experience in an area of sustainability, ideally with a strong knowledge of supply chain management.

About their organisation:

Our client  is the leading international farm animal welfare charity, campaigning to improve the lives of millions of farm animals through advocacy, lobbying for legislative change and positive engagement with the global food industry. Their established Food Business programme aims to raise baseline standards for farm animals by securing commitments, ensuring compliance and facilitating implementation of higher welfare policies and practices. Their work is based on scientific evidence and best practice and as such they are recognised as the credible partner on farm animal welfare to the major food retailers, food service companies and manufacturers.

Location:  located in bright, modern offices; just 2 minutes walk from Godalming mainline station (45 minutes from London Waterloo).

Contract type: Permanent, 37 hours per week

Salary: £30,000 - £36,000 (Depending on experience)

Closing date: Sunday, 21st March 2021. They would like applications as soon as possible as these will be reviewed regularly and interviews may take place on a rolling programme.
