Independent Age works to ensure that as we grow older, we all have the opportunity to live well with dignity, choice and purpose.  To achieve this we provide information, advice and connection services for older people; campaign on the issues that matter most to them around health and care, poverty and loneliness and provide capacity building support to others working in the sector.

This is an exciting time to join the charity as we transition to our new ambitious strategy for 2021 – 2023 and increase our profile, impact and reach so more people can live a happy, connected and purposeful later life.

This role is going to be a key part in providing an impactful service offer for the charity. We would like to hear from people with a desire to support older people make a change in their own lives.

Working closely with the Services Manager, the post holder will provide first class administration support for the Community Services Team in and around Tyne & Wear and Teesside.

The ideal candidate will need to have a person-centred approach with outstanding organisational skills. They will be able to demonstrate a kind, welcoming, responsive approach, with the ability to have active listening skills. Independent Age is passionate about connecting people, places and services together to combat loneliness and we are looking for community focused individuals with a real desire to make a difference.

The ideal candidate will have experience or knowledge in the following:

  • Working with community partners
  • Clearly describing a broad range of services available to people who use services
  • Dealing with general enquiries either face to face or via telephone
  • Signposting to a range of internal or external agencies and services
  • Supporting colleagues with events and activities
  • Managing electronic diaries
  • Microsoft Office
  • CRM systems such as Salesforce
  • Video calling such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams

Independent Age is committed to safeguarding and this role will require an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.

This role is currently home based due to the Covid19 Pandemic, but there will be potential for the role to move to office based in the Tyne & Wear region when it is safe to do so.
