Senior Landscape Architect / Landscape Project Manager – Greenwich Park Revealed

Greenwich Park, London (with travel to all our parks)

The Organisation

Created in March 2017, our client is a charity that supports and manages 5,000 acres of historic parkland across London. Millions of Londoners and tourists visit their beautiful sites, which offer unparalleled opportunities for enjoyment, exploration and healthy living in the heart of the capital.

They look after eight of London’s largest open spaces; Hyde Park, The Green, Richmond, Greenwich, St James’s, Bushy and The Regent’s Parks, and Kensington Gardens. They also manage other important open spaces in the capital including Brompton Cemetery, Victoria Tower Gardens, Canning Green and Poet’s Corner.

In January 2020, our client was awarded £4.5 million by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund to deliver the £8 million Greenwich Park Revealed project. This exciting project aims to restore, protect and enhance Greenwich Park’s historic and natural heritage, as well as provide better facilities, learning, training, volunteering and access to the park for new audiences into the future.

They are looking for a Senior Landscape Architect / Landscape Project Manager to join them on a 2.5 year contract and work as part of their newly created in-house Landscape Studio.

The Benefits

  • Salary of £40,000 - £50,000 per annum DOE
  • Pension scheme
  • 26 days’ holiday per annum plus public holidays

If you have experience of working on complex landscape restoration projects, this is a unique opportunity to support the success of an exciting project to revitalise one of London’s most iconic green spaces.

Overlooking the River Thames and home to one of London’s most amazing views, Greenwich Park has a rich landscape history from its origins as a medieval deer park, it’s 17th formal landscape and the Victorian park, to the busy park it is today. At the heart of the World Heritage Site, it attracts millions of international visitors as well as supporting a strong local community.

You will have the chance to influence and shape this stunning site, return the park’s eroded historic landscape to its former glory and ensure it can be enjoyed for generations to come.

The Role

As the Senior Landscape Architect / Landscape Project Manager, you will oversee the delivery phase of the landscape elements of the Greenwich Park Revealed project.

Working closely with the Head of Landscape & the Landscape Studio Team, you will manage the project through design development, tender and construction phases. This will include NEC3 contract management, administration, CDM duties, monitoring progress, and handover to the Greenwich Park Team.

You will also ensure the long-term sustainability of project elements by taking ownership of risk management, H&S compliance and ensuring works meet contractual obligations.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Working with the project and multidisciplinary design team to deliver the project to budget and programme
  • Performing Principal Designer duties for the landscape elements of the project
  • Ensuring that works are delivered in line with planning and grant conditions
  • Co-ordinating the preparation of tender and procurement documentation
  • Engaging and managing relationships with project stakeholders
  • Liaising with the Marketing and Communications Team to organise publicity and messages

About You

  • Previous experience of using NEC3, and/or JCLI and JCT contracts for project delivery
