A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Full time Volunteer Good Practice Officer on a 12-month fixed term contract to join the Volunteer Experience Team at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, has been providing lifelong support to our Forces and their families since 1885. Last year our teams of volunteers and employees helped more than 85,000 people in need, from Second World War veterans to young men and women who have served in more recent conflicts, and their families.

SSAFA understands that behind every uniform is a person. We are here for that person – any time they need us, in any way they need us, for as long as they need us.

About the role

We are looking for an exceptional individual who can help influence and shape volunteering within SSAFA. The post holder will be part of the Volunteer Experience Team and support the Head of Volunteer Experience with all activities relating to volunteering good practice throughout the volunteer journey, with particular emphasis on developing and maintaining volunteer and volunteering resources.

You will contribute to the development of SSAFA’s volunteering strategy, policies, procedures and systems. You will support, lead and coach others in effective volunteer involvement, management and leadership.

About the team

The Volunteer Experience Team provides good practice volunteering advice and assistance to internal staff, existing volunteers, and prospective applicants. As a key staff member of the team you will work closely with our leaders and managers to capture the true potential of volunteers in making a difference to SSAFA beneficiaries.

About you

Our successful candidate will have a strong volunteering ethos with a wealth of experience of supporting, managing and coaching volunteer managers. You will be a strong communicator, innovative and solutions focused. Being flexible, adaptable and self-motivated are key requirements of this role.

SSAFA is an employer that values the diversity of its workforce and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.

No agencies please. Any unsolicited submissions from agencies will be accepted as a direct application from the candidate and no fees will be payable.
