  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave, above statutory requirements
  • Sick and compassionate leave above statutory requirements
  • Sabbatical leave available after five years’ service and additional opportunities to take volunteering leave

This is a fantastic time to be joining us as we look to reset and transform our volunteering programme following the COVID-19 pandemic.

You’ll have the chance to ensure patients, staff and the volunteers themselves have a great experience and ensure that volunteers are welcome additions to the hospital environment.

What’s more, you will have the chance to challenge yourself, collaborate with a dedicated team and directly contribute to the charity’s ongoing success.

Our vision is to build an instantly recognisable community of volunteers who are visibly making a positive difference to the experience of all our patients, visitors and staff. If you think you can help us realise this goal, we’d love to hear from you.

Your Role

As the Volunteering Manager, you will oversee the operational performance of the volunteering department and the delivery of volunteering objectives at St Mary’s and the Western Eye hospitals.

You will ensure that the appropriate number and calibre of volunteers are recruited, trained, inducted, supported and rewarded to enable our work within the hospitals. Empowering our volunteers, you will make sure that they deliver high-quality experiences for patients and staff and, in doing so, have a highly rewarding volunteering experience.

Your role will also include:

  • Building strong relationships with key hospital staff, the Trust and the community
  • Delivering an excellent standard of volunteering experience
  • Identifying new areas for engaging volunteers as appropriate
  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the volunteering programme
  • Leading on the recruitment, selection and induction of new volunteers
  • Providing ongoing support and communications to all volunteers and staff
  • Line managing the Volunteering Support Officer
  • Working closely with the Youth Volunteering Manager and the Volunteering Managers at Charing Cross Hospital and Hammersmith and Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea hospitals
  • Taking the lead on one or more aspects of our volunteering programme across the whole team

About You

To join us as the Volunteering Manager, you’ll need experience of the below:

  • Working with and managing volunteers
  • Successful project management
  • Developing and delivering training workshops and presentations
  • Working with colleagues to identify volunteering opportunities and developing plans to fulfil them
  • Measuring and evaluating impact
  • Giving feedback to volunteers in a sensitive and appropriate manner
  • A degree level qualification or appropriate experience in a related role

A volunteer management qualification would be beneficial to your application. Experience of working in a hospital environment with volunteers would also be an advantage, as would experience of line managing employees.

Other organisations may call this role Volunteering Support Manager, Senior Volunteering Co-ordinator, Volunteering Support Supervisor, Volunteering Supervisor, Volunteering Team Leader, or Senior Volunteering Support Officer.

The closing date for applications is 12th February 2021.

This is a full-time role, working 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday with the flexibility to work early mornings, evenings and weekends (around 12 weekends/part weekends per annum). On these occasions, time off in lieu will be given.

Webrecruit and Imperial Health Charity are equal opportunities employers, value diversity and are strongly committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all employees and all applicants for employment. Equal opportunities are the only acceptable way to conduct business and we believe that the more inclusive our environments are, the better our work will be.
