The trustees of the Pear Tree Fund wish to appoint the charity’s first chief executive to provide creative and dynamic leadership to develop its services and ensure its future financial sustainability. 

The Pear Tree Fund was established in 1989 to support people with a life-limiting illness who are registered with Cutlers Hill Surgery in Halesworth, through the provision of nursing care, practical support and equipment. The fund has recently opened The Pear Tree Centre, a purpose built drop-in centre, to provide information and support to people living in north east Suffolk and south Norfolk who either themselves or a member of their family have a life limiting illness.

The Pear Tree Fund employs an accounts manager and four part-time paid staff members and is supported by more than 50 volunteers who assist with the running of The Pear Tree Centre. The centre contracts with individual professionals to provide a range of services. The fund is entirely supported through grant-making trusts, voluntary donations and the proceeds from a charity shop in Halesworth, staffed by a team of volunteers.  

 

Qualifications: An undergraduate degree or similar advanced qualification is advantageous but not essential. 

 

Relevant experience: Experience in fundraising and organisational leadership at a senior level is essential. Experience of working with committees or boards is advantageous. 

Current driving licence required.  

 

Hours of work: A minimum of 28hrs across a four-day working week. You will be expected to attend networking and campaign events outside of office hours. It will be necessary to work on an occasional weekend or evening.  

 

Salary: in the range of £34,000 - £40,000 for a four-day working week.

 

Holiday entitlement: 24 days per annum plus statutory holidays 

 

Direct management responsibilities: Centre manager, accounts manager and Dee’s Den management committee.  

 

Place of work: Initially from home prior to securing an office in Halesworth.
