Senior Policy and Public Affairs Officer

Central London, home-based or combination of office and home working

Salary circa £38,000 (plus generous benefits package)

We are looking for a Senior Policy and Public Affairs Officer who will contribute to the development of the College’s policy positions and guidance, and provide expert policy input to our projects and initiatives. You will engage with our members, external stakeholders and experts to achieve consensus on key subjects. You will also develop and deliver influencing activities to help achieve our strategic goals.

As our Senior Policy and Public Affairs Officer, you will be responsible for gathering and analysing a range of evidence and intelligence relating to optometry and eye care. You will translate that into policies and resources that will specifically support our new work to maximise the optometric workforce so they can contribute to optimising care for patients.

As part of a small, proactive team you will play an active role in shaping and delivering effective policies, campaigns and influencing programmes around key issues for members and their patients, working creatively and collaboratively with others to deliver agreed outcomes.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in health policy and influencing, and a good knowledge of the policy making processes related to healthcare across the UK. You will have a meticulous eye for detail and be an efficient time and project manager. Your communication skills will enable you to deliver clear policy positions, work with a range of stakeholders, and plan and implement effective influencing activities.

You can be based at home or work in the College’s central London office, or a combination of home and office.  You will need to be able to travel to London regularly, and other parts of the UK on occasion, to attend meetings.
