Head of Communications and Engagement, NIHR Centre for Engagement and Dissemination

Employer
NIHR
Location
Twickenham, London (Greater)
Salary
£60k per annum
Closing date
1 Feb 2021

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) enables world-class research that transforms people’s lives. We are playing a vital role in the global fight against Covid-19.  Our Centre for Engagement and Dissemination (CED), launched in April 2020, provides leadership and coordination of NIHR’s activities to involve patients and the public in research and in the dissemination and take-up of research evidence.  We have a lively, busy and friendly team of 20 staff.

With the current postholder retiring, we need a new Head of Communications and Engagement.  This is a vital job to shape CED’s communications and relationships and to support wider NIHR communications and engagement efforts. You will help build the profile, visibility and reputation of the Centre’s work, and ensure that it is underpinned by a sound understanding of our stakeholders and the right digital channels.

As a member of our senior management team, you will report to the Centre Director and work closely alongside the two Associate Directors, supporting their respective functions. You will also line-manage at least three members of staff.

This is a permanent, full-time job with an annual salary of £60k.  CED is hosted by, and our staff employed by, the science organisation LGC, with premises in Twickenham and Southampton. There is some flexibility as regards working patterns and location, but also an expectation of regular office-working, post Covid.

We are committed to improving equality, diversity and inclusion and we welcome applicants with the broadest range of backgrounds and protected characteristics.

To read the full job description and person specification, and to apply, you must go through the LGC website. We will only consider applications which include both a CV and a cover letter, setting out how you meet the person specification. If you are interested in applying, we strongly encourage you to arrange an informal discussion with the Centre Director Jeremy Taylor, by contacting Fiona Thandi at fiona.thandi@nihr.ac.uk.

The closing date for applications is 5pm on Monday 1 February 2021.

Interviews are expected to take place in the week beginning Monday 15 February 2021.
