Duties and Responsibilities
The Societies Development Coordinator (Departmental) will take our support for departmental societies at UCL to the next level. The role will work with existing groups to deliver a wide range of innovative and impactful activities focused on developing strong departmental communities. They will build relationships with UCL staff, including departmental administrators and faculty staff to increase the reputation and reach of the Union and facilitate the affiliation of the majority of departmental groups. They will provide specific and bespoke support to all affiliated departmental societies, with a focus on enhancing the student experience, supporting communities and developing co-curricular events and activities which foster a sense of belonging.
Duration of this post is to start in March 2021 for one year in the first instance.
The successful candidate must have significant experience in project management or qualification, qualification or relevant experience in Health and safety management, experience of developing and delivering training and mentoring programmes, experience managing a variety of complex projects and good experience of running a variety of activities designed to keep communities connected. The ideal candidate will understand the challenges faced by students in higher education, and be able to increase our ability to advocate and make positive impacts on the educational experience of students at a departmental level
The Societies Development Coordinator must also have the ability to develop strong relationships with students, academics and senior UCL staff as an effective verbal communicator who is able to adapt their style based on the audience.
