Director of Services, With You
Two roles (SW and NW England)

to £65k • Home based with regional travel

We believe that everyone should feel comfortable getting the support they need for issues with drugs, alcohol or mental health. Our name expresses exactly what we do: working with people on their own goals – whether that’s staying safe and healthy, making small changes or stopping an unwanted habit altogether. We work with over 100,000 people a year, through services provided both in local communities and online

In this role, you’ll lead and support one of our regional teams as it aims to radically improve people's chances of emerging from their alcohol, drug or mental health problems. Working closely with other Directors and the wider Executive team, you’ll shape overall strategic direction for your region. We want you to be able to take a whole-system view of delivering a diverse and high-performing portfolio of services, with an deft grasp of process mapping, quality improvement, resource planning, relationship management and customer care. Building and maintaining excellent relationships with commissioners, decision-makers and other influential stakeholders will be a significant part of the job.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate applied, practical experience of managing large service delivery teams operating over a wide geographical area. You’ll bring extensive evidence of overcoming constraints or operational bottlenecks, and a deep insight into customer experience and customer journeys will also be essential. But it’s also important that you can understand the detail of running regulated, commissioned and publicly-funded services in a highly scrutinised and fast-changing operating environment. An unfeigned passion for our work and values will be matched by an absolute commitment to continuous improvement, and a track record of succeeding by developing strong and self-improving teams.

You’re likely to have a service delivery or a commissioning background, and clinical understanding would be an asset. It’s likely that strong candidates will already have worked with people experiencing issues with drugs, alcohol or mental health, perhaps in the criminal justice, health or social services fields. You must understand (and be able to deploy) the full range of leadership approaches that will be required in this setting, and a firm knowledge of compliance and regulation in service delivery will also be essential.

We believe that greater diversity in our management team would increase our effectiveness, and we would therefore encourage enquiries and applications from candidates who bring a range of life experiences and backgrounds alongside their full professional repertoire.
