Casual / Locum Support Workers (Homelessness / Vulnerable Adults)

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole

Salary: £11.38 / £13.33 per hour depending on role

Flexible working

Are you looking to work flexibly, in a varied role where you can make a real difference helping homeless people to rebuild their lives?

Our client are at the forefront of supporting individuals experiencing, or who have experienced, homelessness. Their work is more crucial now than ever before as they support our clients throughout the covid-19 pandemic and ensure that no one who has been housed during this time returns to homelessness.

About the Role

As a Locum Worker you can work flexibly, on an ad hoc or temporary basis. In joining the Locum bank you will be able to link yourself to services where you would like to pick up shifts and take on the number of shifts that fit your individual circumstances. In order to provide you with ongoing support you will be allocated a supervising manager and you will have access to mandatory training to ensure you have the tools to keep their clients safe. Our client offers enhanced pay for bank holidays and you can also accrue holiday pay.

They are looking for people to join the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole locum bank where you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of our services across the city. Our belief is that rough sleeping is an intrinsically harmful and dangerous activity both for the individual and for the wider community. Their aim is to support people to recover from the effects of rough sleeping and move away from a street lifestyle permanently.

Our client are looking for people with different skills and levels of experience to work in Bournemouth, in Locum Project Worker roles where you will work early and late shifts; and be involved in supporting people living in their mental health services with their recovery. There may also be opportunities to work with the Street Outreach Service across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole assessing the needs of individual rough sleepers on the streets.

What our client is looking for

These important roles will suit people with:

  • Experience of helping vulnerable people to identify personal goals and supporting them through a process of change.

  • An understanding of the issues faced by homeless or vulnerable people and the difficulties they experience in accessing services.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of people and deal with those who may be in a difficult personal or emotional situation.

Above all they are looking for inspirational, committed individuals who have a genuine desire to support people to rebuild their lives.

What our client does:

Their vision is that everyone has a place to call home and can fulfil their hopes and ambitions. As a homelessness charity and housing association, their clients are at the heart of what they do, and in 2019 they supported nearly 30,000 people who were either homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Their locums play a crucial role in helping them to make this happen.

It is a requirement for this post that an enhanced DBS disclosure check will be undertaken for the successful candidate

Closing date: 10am, 31 December 2020

Interviews are currently scheduled for 9 December 2020 and 13 January 2020 (to be held remotely via video conference call)
