We act because everyone relies on the ocean to survive - from the air we breathe to the food we eat. We have ambitious plans to drive political, cultural and social change for healthy seas and coasts that support abundant marine wildlife, sustain livelihoods and provide enjoyment for all.

Our ocean is in poor health and we need urgent action to change this. We want this to be top of the public and political agenda and need an exceptional Team Lead for our Trust and Grants team to help us make this happen.

This is an ideal role for someone with the aptitude for business development and account management in a not-for-profit or commercial setting, expertly nurturing our important relationships with charitable trusts, foundations and grant funders. Alongside the Director of Fundraising, you will have the opportunity to input your ideas for creatively developing and implementing our Trusts and Grants fundraising strategy.

Demonstrating great leadership and management skills, you’ll be supporting a talented team in writing compelling funding applications for existing and new grant donors. As a self-starter, you’ll be confident in your ability to take a proactive approach when managing a varied and busy workload, often with demanding deadlines.

Key Skills

  • Detailed and practical understanding of trust and grants fundraising – you might also have a professional qualification in fundraising
  • Experienced in managing a team of fundraisers - motivating and supporting them for success, including through training and development in proposal development and copywriting
  • Proven track record of fundraising from charitable trusts, foundations and statutory bodies (experience with funding bids to Big Lottery/Heritage Lottery/EU/International would be an advantage)
  • Demonstrable ability to write compelling proposals and funding reports which inspire donors about our work
  • Track record in working closely with senior management teams
  • Experienced in confidently representing the organisation and its work to potential and existing funders
  • Demonstrable negotiating and influencing skills

We are looking for people who demonstrate our values, but who can also contribute their own perspectives and experiences which add to our knowledge and our culture.

Select the apply button shown to download the information pack, which includes the full job description and more about what works well for applications.

We really value a cover letter that tells us why you would like to work with us, and how you meet the role and person specification.

Please make sure it’s in an editable format – so no PDF or Pages formats - and it would be helpful if you leave out any personal information in either document as we need to remove it for shortlisting.
