Job Purpose

To assist in the management, development and co-ordination of a service, which provides targeted intervention during transition into adulthood for Young Carers who live in Birmingham aged 14-18years old over a period of 3years

Duties and Responsibilities/Other Roles

To work directly with carers and deliver a 1-2-1 Life-Coaching service for Young carers aged 14-18yrs which will provide tailored, consistent support helping YC’s to set life/career goals, develop coping strategies & overcome obstacles that are blocking achievement of plans/ ambition

Work with schools & colleges to improve their ability to identify/support YC’s, helping to increase academic achievement/attainment; educate & up-skill teachers; provide advice & guidance; support to achieve “Young Carer’s in Schools Award”.

To meet the SERVICE contract requirements as set out by funders.

To deliver respite activities for young carers aged 14-18years old including a weekly Saturday Youth Café session.

To apply professional standards of care at all times with due regard for the user’s safety and needs, both physical and emotional. 

To ensure that user’s data records and files are processed, maintained and kept secure

To oversee the management of the building whilst activities are taking place and all relating matters. To ensure we maintain a tidy and healthy environment of the premises when in use.

To oversee the budgets of relevant programmes and activities

To lead a team in the development of appropriate provision of activities for each user group and be responsible for the recruitment, supervision, personal development, training of the team. 

To make sure that any accidents are dealt with appropriately and ensuring that all details are recorded in the accident book.

To ensure that all equipment is kept safely stored away when not in use, that it is not misused, and that it is in safe working order.

To liaise with staff, local authority, and other agencies as appropriate, including attendance at meetings.

To take an active role in identifying funding opportunities for existing and new projects.

To promote inclusion and the rights if young carers and their families

To ensure all staff/volunteers have current CRB checks, child protection policies, and other good practice safeguards are adhered to.

To undertake any other duties, within scope and remit of role, as required by your line manager
