Macular Society has 2 amazing opportunities available for Advice and Information Service Administrators to join the team based in Andover, Hampshire with some home working. You will join on a part time, permanent basis and in return you will receive a competitive salary of £22,500 per annum (pro-rata).

Hours:
22.5 hours per week
(x 2 Posts: Mon-Wed 9-5, Wed-Fri 9-5)

Macular disease is the biggest cause of sight loss in the UK, with 300 people diagnosed every day. A diagnosis of macular disease can be devastating. It steals your sight, your confidence, and your ability to do the things you love. Losing your sight is often described as being similar to bereavement, with people experiencing many of the same emotions. Our services provide free information and support to people with macular disease, along with their family and friends to help them cope with their diagnosis and maintain their quality of life.

As part of our Advice and Information team you will be helping to provide clear support, information and advice to over 15,000 people every year as well as providing crucial support to our other services teams.

Key responsibilities of our Advice and Information Service Administrator will include:

- Answering calls and email enquiries from our members, newly diagnosed people and family members looking for support.
- Providing clear, informative, advice and support, as well as signposting people to the right services.
- Monitoring and responding to questions on the Society’s social media sites and on-line forums such as Health Unlocked.
- Contributing to the drafting of new, and reviewing and updating existing patient information, including leaflets, website information and video library.
- Liaising with health care professionals to ensure our patient information is accurate and up to date.
- Providing administrative and other support to our services teams including Befriending, Skills for Seeing and Counselling services.

As the ideal Advice and Information Service Administrator you will have:

- Experience in a busy advice line, call centre or similar customer service role.
- Empathic, patient and caring nature.
- Calm under pressure and able to manage own emotions.
- Excellent active listening skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to absorb complex technical information and relay it to a lay audience.
- Good organisation skills and the ability to record information accurately and methodically.
- A good team player with the ability to be flexible with day to day tasks.
- IT proficient
- Experience in the low vision sector and/or working with older people (Desirable)
- Experience or understanding of sight loss (Desirable)
