Job Details

Food Business Project Manager

They are looking for a proven innovative project manager to lead Compassion’s biennial Supermarket Survey and Retailer Awards programme, and to develop other relevant tools to track and communicate on corporate policy commitments. You will be responsible for developing the on-line survey and delivery of bespoke retailer reports and of helping to recommend specific actions to improve farm animal welfare within their supply chains. You will also assist with their business to business forums and roundtable addressing key welfare issues and solutions. The post has the potential to be wide ranging and is particularly focussed on the UK’s top retailers and food service companies, with wider influence into Europe.

Food Business Project Manager Requirements:

The Food Business Programme has been successful at driving market impact for ten years through an evolving portfolio of tools and drivers for change. This role will be influential in identifying further areas of evolution and innovation and will be pivotal in their design and implementation.

Passionate about humane, sustainable food you will need to be an excellent data handler and communicator. You will also need to be approachable, adaptable and have a positive disposition that inspires confidence, and well as being a driven self-starter, who can work on your own as well as in a team. This role requires you to be realistic but ambitious about what is achievable with companies.

A strong understanding of the commercial sector is essential, and a track record of working with or for food businesses, with a focus on technical animal welfare or supply chain management, is highly desirable. Knowledge of the technicalities of measuring and managing animal welfare is a distinct advantage.

This is a vital role within their organisation, helping to ensure farm animal welfare is adopted as part of a sustainable supply chain and incorporated in the policies of the world’s leading food businesses in a meaningful way. The role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a tangible impact for farm animal welfare within a dynamic team and influential organisation.

About their organisation:

Our client is the leading international farm animal welfare organisation. Factory farming affects billions of animals – and every human on the planet. There are humane alternatives to this global crisis. Will you help them tell this story?

In an age where the debate about food provenance, sustainability and safety has never been more urgent, the challenge for them is to combat the spread of factory farming and ensure that animal welfare becomes a fundamental consideration within the global food system.

Due to the current Covid-19 situation, interviews may take place via video link and the successful candidate may be required to be home based initially before moving to be based primarily at their headquarters in Godalming, Surrey. Whilst there is some flexibility for home working the role will be mainly office based.
