Independent Age works to ensure that as we grow older, we all have the opportunity to live well with dignity, choice and purpose.  To achieve this we provide information, advice and connection services for older people; campaign on the issues that matter most to them around health and care, poverty and loneliness and provide capacity building support to others working in the sector.

We are looking for a social care specialist who can support our teams across the charity in their work. You will be providing training and guidance for our advice team on complex social issues affecting older people, supporting our information team with the production of social care resources and working closely with our policy teams on wider system change.

With significant experience in the field of social care, you must have a detailed understanding of the legislative and regulatory frameworks relating to social care with particular focus on The Care Act 2014 and the issues faced by older people, as well as experience of working within a set of advice quality standards and best practice guidelines.

As well as a competitive salary we offer wealth of benefits including 28 days annual leave, a generous pension scheme arrangement with life assurance, training opportunities, season ticket loans, an Employee Assistance Programme and access to a discount voucher scheme.

We are passionate about diversity and inclusion and creating an environment where we can ALL be ourselves.

Play your part - Apply today

This is an exciting time to be considering joining Independent Age. Our new strategy marks a major expansion of our activities whilst ensuring that older people are at the heart of everything we do.

Whatever happens as we get older, we all want to remain independent and live life on our own terms. That’s why, as well as offering regular friendly contact and a strong campaigning voice, Independent Age provides clear, free and impartial advice on the issues that matter: care and support, money and benefits, health and mobility.

Future Plans

In 2015 we began our ambitious programme to greatly increase the impact of Independent Age. At the heart of our strategy is the expansion of our services and campaigning activities. Not only does this mean we reach more people, it also gives us even greater experience on which to base all our work.
