Unicef UK is a £100M income, 350 staff organisation and part of the global Unicef family. Work is underway on a new finance system (Finance Transformation Project). This will involve updating our finance systems and processes, with plans to implement a new finance system in mid 2021.

To support us through this project, we are looking for a Projects Accountant who has strong project and change management experience in implementing finance systems in large organisations. The role has no direct reports and will report directly to the Director of Finance

You will support the CFO and FD in implementing a series of other improvements to Finance policies and procedures to improve internal controls, improve cashflow forecasting and automate Finance KPIs reporting.  You will also provide person cover for the Financial Controller on the month end process.

A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred but not essential, depending on work experience. You will be an advanced MS Excel user and experience with application of Charities SORP preferred, but not essential. Strong preference will be given to a candidate who can start at short notice.

The Unicef UK Baby Friendly Initiative was launched in 1994 and is designed to support breastfeeding and parent-infant relationships by working with public services to improve standards of care. The charity supports best practice by NHS trusts, other health care facilities and higher education institutions and recognises those that have achieved the required standard through an accreditation process.

Unicef UK is also working with a small number of local authorities, such as Derry & Strabane, Glasgow, Leeds, Newcastle and Tower Hamlets, to transform services for the most vulnerable children through a child rights based approach. The Child Rights Partners programme was launched as a three year pilot in November 2013 and focuses on children in care or leaving care and services for young people with drug and alcohol problems.
