Homelessness Services Manager
Worthing, West Sussex

About Us

Established in 1991, Turning Tides is a community-led charity dedicated to ending homelessness. We empower homeless or insecurely housed individuals to achieve sustainable independent living.

We have gone from supporting a handful of people in the coastal town of Worthing to providing a range of services to over 1,700 people in Worthing, Adur, Littlehampton, Horsham and Mid Sussex. We have over 5,000 supporters, 250 volunteers and 100 staff members to date.

Now, we’re looking for a Homelessness Services Manager to join us in Worthing on a maternity cover 1 year contract.

The Benefits

- Salary of £36,088 per annum
- Pension
- Support the success of a community-led organisation
- 25 days’ holiday (increasing up to 28 with service) plus Bank Holidays

This is an amazing opportunity to enhance your experience with a ground-breaking organisation that’s been helping homeless people for nearly 30 years.
You’ll drive the success of a life-changing service that supports individuals to overcome their addictions, transform their lives and achieve independence.

So, if you’re looking to challenge yourself, utilise your housing management experience and work with a passionate, highly skilled team to make a difference on a daily basis, we would love to hear from you.

The Role

As the Homelessness Services Manager, you’ll ensure that our services for homeless clients provide the support they need to help them deal with their complex and/or potentially challenging needs.

This is an exciting opportunity for a resilient, skilled, highly motivated and passionate manager to develop, grow and improve on our established Lyndhurst Road residential service and our St Clare’s hub service in Worthing.

The Lyndhurst Road service is a 34 bed assessment service providing a short term solution to clients often with complex needs. Consisting of single rooms with shared communal kitchens and bathrooms and shared additional communal resources. While the St Clare’s Hub service provides access to support for homeless or insecurely housed clients as part of a multi-disciplinary approach to engaging with often complex and entrenched clients, the role will include the line management of this hub service manager.

Reporting to the Head of Operations, you’ll ensure that our services meet the needs of a diverse client group whilst continuing to adapt to changing needs.
Some of your duties will include:

- Supporting the development of Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE) in our service
- Ensuring services are financially secure, delivered safely and effectively whilst meeting all relevant legislative and safeguarding requirements
- Taking responsibility for compliance, health and safety, continuity and development of service and more

About You

To join us as a Homelessness Services Manager, you’ll need:

- Housing management experience, ideally within a similar environment
- Outstanding leadership skills with demonstrable experience of driving results and innovation
- A track record of delivering high quality services alongside the ability to coach and mentor teams and creative positive impact
- Strong IT and database management skills

More than anything, you will need to be passionate about improving the lives of homeless clients who will have complex and/or potentially challenging needs.

Other organisations may call this role Support Services Manager, Service Delivery Supervisor, Hostel Manager, Hostel Supervisor, Social Work Supervisor, Hostel Team Leader, or Homelessness Support Supervisor.

The closing date for applications is the 16th November 2020.
