The Clothworkers' Foundation improves the lives of people and communities, particularly those facing disadvantage and discrimination, through grant making. Established in 1977 to be the primary vehicle of charitable giving for The Clothworkers' Company, The Foundation's grants to date have exceeded £140 million, with nine specific programme areas for funding that include disadvantaged young people, homelessness, domestic and sexual abuse, among others. One of the largest independent grant makers in the UK, The Foundation generates real impact through the charities it funds.
Trustees (two sought)
For the first time in its history, The Clothworkers' Foundation is seeking to appoint two external Trustees to the Board from outside of the Clothworkers' Company. The Trustees will help to strengthen the Board as the organisation takes forward an ambitious strategy to increase its social impact.
The new Trustees will play a vital role in providing strategic insight and sector understanding as well as ensuring the right blend of support and constructive challenge to the Board, the Chief Executive and the grants team.
The Board is seeking to improve the representation of diverse voices and lived experience of The Foundation's programme areas among its Trustees. The Foundation is therefore interested in hearing from:
- people with knowledge, understanding and experience in one or more of The Foundation's nine programme areas,
- those with senior leadership experience within the charity sector, particularly within one of The Foundation's nine programme areas.
The Clothworkers' Foundation is committed to achieving greater diversity in its Board, and welcomes applications regardless of sex, gender, race, religion or belief, age, sexuality or disability, or any other factor which is not objectively justified.
