The Limbless Association provides support, information and connectivity to the limb loss community. We are a long-standing charity based in Chelmsford in Essex, which through our stakeholder networks, extends our reach as an organisation operating and connecting nationally.

We are excited to announce that having successfully been awarded funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, we are recruiting a Project Manager to develop and improve our Volunteer Visitor project. This user led project builds on the LA’s longstanding peer mentoring service that’s been operating for over 20 years.

The successful candidate will be an experienced project manager with at least 3 years’ experience in a project management role. Comfortable with setting and managing targets, monitoring budgets, delivering to deadlines and monitoring and evaluating projects.

Preferably you will have experience of working with patients who have experienced trauma and/or long-term health conditions. Additionally, you might have been involved in another peer mentoring project in a health-related charity.

Working remotely as part of a small team, you will be an experienced pragmatic leader working in the voluntary sector. You will be confident in managing, motivating and developing volunteers, engaging and communicating with key stakeholders and have an understanding and knowledge of supporting an organisation to achieve sector accreditations.

We are looking for an organised, self-motivated leader with an engaging manner, you will need to be calm and unflappable with drive and enthusiasm to inspire your remote team which are located across the UK

The successful person will have a positive can-do attitude and if you’re not working in the sector already be prepared to develop an in depth understanding of the limb loss community and sector. This is a really exciting project and we are at a pivotal point in taking it to the next level.

We are a registered charity that has been supporting amputees for over 35 years. We aim to support amputees, pre and post-amputation, to navigate the associated complexities with advice, information and signposting to empower individuals and their families to optimise their recovery and rehabilitation.

We provide support through;

  • a helpdesk, offering assistance with a wide range of matters and support to access the relevant services and resources,
  • Peer support, this vital service is expanding and supported by the National Lottery Community Fund. Our volunteers are all amputees who understand the challenges in the early days, weeks and months of limb loss.
  • Support and Connect Hubs which are currently running in Essex, Manchester, Bristol and Hull with more planned across the UK.
