Head of Outreach (Part Time)
Vauxhall, London (initially home based in line with COVID guidelines)
Established and mainly funded by the UK Government, Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (HMDT) is a charity that promotes and supports Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) in the UK.
Holocaust Memorial Day (27 January) is the day for everyone to remember the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, alongside the millions of other people killed under Nazi Persecution and in subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur. It is a time when we seek to learn the lessons of the past and recognise that genocide does not just take place on its own - it’s a steady process which can begin if discrimination, racism and hatred are not checked and prevented.
HMD is for everyone. Each year across the UK, thousands of people come together to learn more about the past and take action to create a safer future. We know they learn more, empathise more and do more.
Together we bear witness for those who endured genocide and honour the survivors and all those whose lives were changed beyond recognition.
We are currently looking for a part-time Head of Outreach to join our team in an initially home-based role which will be based from our offices in Vauxhall once COVID guidelines allow.
- Salary of £36,689 FTE
- 25 days' holiday pro rata
- Play a leading role in the success of a charity that is striving to make a positive difference to the world
If you have high level experience of forging relationships, a great leadership style and are eager to make an impact, this is a unique opportunity to join a charity that educates others about the past and encourages them to challenge today’s prejudices.
You will have the chance to use your abilities to ensure more organisations mark Holocaust Memorial Day, as well as leading efforts for the UK national ceremony. Through your efforts, you will empower others to create a better future by learning from the events of the past.
As the Head of Outreach, you will lead efforts within our organisation to encourage and support companies and other organisations to mark Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD), ensuring we have broader reach and greater impact.
Specifically, overseeing our outreach function, you will plan, deliver and evaluate day-to-day outreach activity and relationships. You will manage the collection of data regarding HMD activities and organisations that mark it and support the development of resources.
As part of your role, you will co-ordinate events with government departments, support VIP attendance and play a key role in the planning and delivery of the UK ceremony. You will also provide support to the Scottish and Welch devolved governments for their HMD national events.
To join us as the Head of Outreach, you will need:
- Extensive experience in building and maintaining relationships
- Previous experience of managing people and budgets
- Experience of working sensitively with a range of stakeholders
- The ability to deal diplomatically with sensitive situations
- The ability to work strategically
- Strong communication skills
- The desire to work inclusively and collaboratively
Knowledge of the Holocaust, Nazi Persecution or recent genocides would be beneficial to your application. Knowledge of the voluntary and/or community sector in the UK would also be an advantage.
