Senior Research Manager – China

The post holder will be responsible for leading the on-going technical credibility and development of Compassion’s Awards programme and resources in China. This includes technical support prior to and within food company meetings, knowledge transfer to the team, award winners, and wider stakeholder groups in China. You will also take the lead on further development of the awards criteria, application and verification processes, and indirectly manage the China Research Officer (based in China).

Senior Research Manager Responsibilities:

Working with the Head of Food Business China programme you will play a central role in further implementing and developing their influence on animal welfare in China as well as strengthening and enhancing their technical service offer.

Senior Research Manager Requirements:

The right candidate will be commercially astute and bring gravitas and credibility with your technical knowledge and practical experience of farm animal welfare within a global context. You will develop a solid understanding of the Chinese food industry whilst maintaining a sympathetic understanding of the wider organisational aims. The role will require developing and delivering multiple workflows to deadline and within budget, and a strong problem solving ‘can do’ attitude.

This is a vital role within their China Programme, helping to ensure farm animal welfare is adopted within the sustainable supply chain and corporate policies of the world’s leading food businesses as well as China’s national companies. Due to the current Covid-19 situation, interviews may take place via video link and the successful candidate may be required to be home based initially before moving to be based primarily at their headquarters in Godalming, Surrey. Whilst there is some flexibility for home working the role will be mainly office based.

Location: Godalming, Surrey GU7 1EZ and will require significant travel to China, depending on travel restrictions.

Job type: Full Time, Fixed Term Contract until March 2022

Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 (dependent upon experience)
