Research Manager – Asia

The post holder will be responsible for the on-going technical credibility and development of Compassion’s programme and resources for Thailand. This includes support of the Thailand Food Business Manager with preparation for and in meetings, knowledge transfer to food companies, and wider stakeholder groups in Thailand.

Working under the direction of the Head of Food Business China, you will play a central role in further implementing and developing their influence on animal welfare in Thailand as well as strengthening and enhancing their technical service offer.

Research Manager Requirements:

The right candidate will bring both scientific rigour and excellent practical knowledge of farm animal welfare in food production to the role, along with passion and belief in improving animal welfare in Thailand. You will have a strong commercial awareness and develop a solid understanding of the Thai food industry whilst maintaining a sympathetic understanding of the wider organisational aims. The role will require developing and delivering multiple workflows to deadline and within budget, and a strong problem solving ‘can do’ attitude.

This is a vital role within their Food Business Programme, helping to ensure farm animal welfare is adopted within the sustainable supply chain and corporate policies of the world’s leading food businesses as well as Thailand’s national companies. Due to the current Covid-19 situation, interviews may take place via video link and the successful candidate may be required to be home based initially before moving to be based primarily at their headquarters in Godalming, Surrey. Whilst there is some flexibility for home working the role will be mainly office based.

Location: Godalming, Surrey GU7 1EZ and will require significant travel to Thailand, with potentially additional travel to other countries in Asia Pacific

Job type: Full Time, Fixed Term Contract for 21 Months

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 (dependent upon experience)
