We have a fantastic opportunity for a Media Officer to join our fast-paced Media Team, working hard to maximise Plan International UK’s media presence across a variety of UK outlets. We’re raising awareness of issues that affect children, especially girls, all over the world, and we’re making girls’ voices heard with successful campaigns on issues like street harassment, period poverty, trafficking and sexual exploitation.

The Team sits within the newly formed Media and Campaigns Unit, which comprises media and PR, campaigns, youth engagement and partnership communications. The Unit sits within the Communications, Campaigns and UK Programmes Directorate.

This is an exciting time to help shape the future of Plan International UK’s media work, with a new organisational strategy just around the corner, and increasing media interest in girls’ rights and youth activism presenting new opportunities within the media landscape.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and determined team player who will relish being part of an ambitious and creative press office. You’ll know how to tell compelling news stories, create engaging content and build effective relationships with journalists. You’ll work on national PR campaigns to raise the profile of our fundraising and campaigning work, developing your knowledge and expertise to find innovative ways to reach new and existing supporters through the media.

You’ll have some previous experience of working in a busy national press team and/or in a news/media organisation. Through this experience, you will have built relationships with appropriate media contacts, successfully identified and pitched stories, and written engaging copy with a media focus.
