The British Academy is seeking to recruit an outstanding individual to the post of Deputy Head of International (Engagement).

The successful candidate will contribute to the leadership and management of the International Team, with specific responsibilities for the development of and delivering the Academy’s international strategy taking forward the Academy’s international relations and engagements throughout the world.

The role is a key position within the International Team which has grown in recent years due to sustained growth in our international portfolio and the importance of our international engagement for the future success of the Academy and the humanities and social sciences more broadly. Reporting directly to the Head of International but working closely with the Senior Programmes Manager and with Senior Management and Officers of the Academy, the post-holder will take forward the Academy’s international relations and engagements throughout the world, providing leadership for colleagues and delivering the Academy’s international strategy at a time of considerable change in the external environment.

We are seeking a candidate who has excellent diplomatic and problem-solving skills and will strive to ensure the continuous development of the Academy’s international engagement. They will help to identify new opportunities, develop potential synergies, initiate activity and lead development relevant to the Academy’s international engagement.
