Our client is a Kent based housing association providing homes and services to their local communities.  

They are keen to enhance their Board and recruit individuals who align with their values and work ethics, and in particular an alignment with their Equality, Diversity and Inclusion vision. With a new Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy being formulated to ensure these areas are at the heart of everything they do, they are keen to increase the diversity of their Board so that they can better understand and connect with their customers and colleagues. They are especially keen to increase the participation of women, those with disabilities and people from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds on their Board and welcome applications from these groups.
 
Their vision is to be the landlord of choice for Mid Kent and, in particular, the Maidstone community, providing quality homes and excellent customer service.
 
Established in 2004 following the transfer of homes from Maidstone Borough Council, they have invested more than £150m in regenerating their homes and neighbourhoods.
 
They are now prioritising to respond to the challenges they face. Late last year the Board learnt that as a landlord, they were not keeping their residents in the safe and secure environment that they should expect from a landlord of their magnitude. They have solid recovery plans in place to return all of their residents to the safe homes they deserve and in addition they are investing heavily to ensure that all their homes meet required standards.

As a Board they have undertaken an assessment of the skills and diversity they possess to ensure the first class governance of their business.

They now have a smaller board comprised of high quality board members working constructively with their Executive team and they are looking to enhance this with two new board members whom are experienced senior leaders and can bring expertise in the areas of Finance and Property Services.  

In particular we are looking for expertise in the following areas:

Treasury management/risk management
Property related assets
 
 
Their priority continues to be to provide safe and secure homes for their residents in places where they choose to live. Today they manage over 7,500 properties and provide a home to more than 20,000 people. They are committed to developing high quality new homes for social, affordable and market rent, shared ownership and market sale.
 
All their profits are invested back into building more new homes, reinvesting in their housing stock and delivering services that have a positive impact on their customers’ lives.
