Job Title: Chief Executive
Salary: c.£60K - £65K
Hours of work: Full Time/Permanent
Location: Guildford, Surrey
We are working in partnership with Challengers, an independent children’s charity, set up over 40 years’ ago, dedicated to providing essential play and leisure opportunities for disabled children and young people with any kind of physical, learning, sensory or emotional impairment.
At this pivotal time for the charity, the Board is seeking to appoint a new Chief Executive who will provide strong leadership to deliver the strategy whilst maintaining the values of the organisation. Working closely with the parents and trustees, the new Chief Executive will set the tone of the charity to maintain its direction, ethos and philosophy through the motivation, well-being and efficiency of the staff team and volunteers.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- A proven track record in leading a dedicated team of staff and volunteers
- A sound understanding of the charitable and voluntary sector including the governance and legal requirements of charities
- Evidence of building lasting relationships across the community
- Drive and energy to seek out new opportunities for growth
- Strong business acumen in a commercial discipline
- An understanding of complex projects, their development and financing
- Drawing up and monitoring policies and procedures to ensure best practice
- Successful experience in fundraising and developing a robust Fundraising strategy
- Knowledge of operating budgets, management accounts, human resources
- Evidence of influencing the national agenda
Ideally, the new Chief Executive will have experience of the disability sector. You will be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have the self-confidence and influence to inspire and persuade others. Integrity and credibility are key qualities to go alongside a creative and visionary approach. You will be a forward thinking, committed and passionate individual with a true belief in the work of the charity and the children they support.
