Job Details
This amazing children’s hospice in Oxford supports families at the most difficult of times and works to help them create happy memories together. We need an experienced Director of Support Services to lead our complex operation at our Oxford site and take responsibility for all aspects of facilities and resource management to ensure the charity functions efficiently and effectively.
We are looking for an experienced and inspirational leader who has a natural ability to work across the charity and drive outstanding performance. Reporting to the CEO and the Board of Trustees, you will play a leading role in the Executive team working with senior colleagues to develop the organisation’s strategy and associated plans and drive a culture of continual improvement in line with the organisation’s values.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge of people management, governance and compliance and be able to apply good practice across multiple areas. You will be responsible for:
Developing and driving strategies to enable the management of resources and to ensure the charity operates efficiently, effectively and in line with current legislation and good practice.
Leading a high performing Support Services directorate (Human Resources; staff and volunteers, Learning & Development, Health & Safety, Estates & Facilities Management) which enables and supports excellent performance across all areas of the charity including the Clinical Service, Fundraising and Retail.
Provide leadership and direction to the team and work with them to determine the strategies and plans that support the delivery of both directorate and organisational goals.
Set and manage a complex expenditure budget.
The work you do will make a significant contribution to the lives of terminally ill children so if you’re looking for a role where you can actually see the difference you make, then Helen & Douglas House could be the place for you. Without a great team of staff and volunteers we could not provide the level of care and support that we do. If you are looking for a strategically important and senior leadership role and you can demonstrate the right skills and experience, then we want to hear from you.
For further details please see the job description. If you have any questions about the role please email recruitment@helenanddouglas.org.uk or call the People Resourcing Team on 01865 794749. Alternatively, if you would like an informal discussion about the role before you apply then please call the team, giving your name and contact telephone number, and a senior manager will call you back.
The closing date for this role is the 27th September 2020
Interviews will be held on week beginning 12th October 2020
Please note that everyone working for Helen & Douglas House are required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. Helen & Douglas House is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
