Job Details
This professional membership body drives standards and empowers recruitment businesses to build better futures for their candidates and themselves. They are champions of an industry which is fundamental to the strength of the UK economy. They provide legal advice, business support and training to help recruiters, and they celebrate the individuals involved in this industry, which contributes £39 billion annually to the UK economy.
At the December 2019 Council meeting of this organisation and via a vote, it was agreed that the current Council no longer fits with the new direction the organisation was undertaking. It was agreed to move from a council structure of over 30 individuals, all elected from the members, to a more skill-specific Board of 11, supported by specialist Governance Committees.
Harris Hill is delighted to be working with this membership organisation to appoint four non-executive directors to its Board to provide independence, impartiality and wide experience. We are looking for candidates from outside the recruitment industry to join its newly created Board. In appointing independent members, it is seeking to broaden the base of advice for the Board and the Executive team and bring wider scrutiny to decision making.
Location: Meetings are usually held in the offices in London.
Remuneration: Travel and subsistence expenses are refundable within limits set by the the organisation. Expenses are subject to periodic review.
Time Commitment: The Board will meet six times per year, usually for half a day, with additional time required for reading meeting papers and other business.
Term of Office: The initial appointment is three years. Individuals may be reappointed to the Board for a further term up to a maximum of six years, subject to satisfactory performance and the needs of the organisation.
We are searching for individuals with skills that are of particular interest to this professional membership body at this time, which are within the following areas:
v Technology/Data - Experience of leading technology change and of setting a data strategy in a not-for-profit environment.
v Digital Services Transformation - Experience or transforming services primarily delivered via people and paper to digitally enabled services, preferably in a not-for-profit environment.
v Financial Planning and Risk - Experience of evaluating financial risk and supporting an organisation to develop mitigating strategies, preferably in a not-for-profit environment.
v Policy Development - Experience of leading policy development and/or economic analysis, preferably in a relevant policy area.
We welcome applications from those with experience in these areas, but also those with other backgrounds who believe that they could make a contribution to strategy and oversight of the organisation.
Closing date for applications: 12 noon on 24 August 2020
First stage interviews: 14,15,16 and 22 September 2020
Appointment Start Date: 8 October 2020
