Walking With The Wounded are very proud to be working with the NHS Lead Provider for the newly commissioned Pathfinder Veteran’s Mental Health High Intensity Service within London, working in a Provider Collaborative which includes Camden & Islington NHS Foundation Trust, Stoll and Walking with the Wounded. The service has been newly commissioned to provide support in the following areas:
1. Crisis Care
2. Therapeutic inpatient support
3. Care co-ordination across organisations able to support the veteran
4. Support and care of family members/ carers of the veteran
The HIS Team will operate across London and will be a multi-disciplinary team (Mental Health Practitioners, Psychologists, Liaison & Support Officers) who will provide a liaison, advice and support service for local mental health teams, the veteran and their family. The team will work collaboratively together on a model that will involve ensuring veterans are empowered to access services for health and social support.
Walking With The Wounded (WWTW) are currently recruiting for 2 Veteran Liaison & Support Officers (VLSO) spread across Greater London to join a new project in partnership with the NHS.
We are looking for a small but dedicated team who will empower ex-service personnel to regain their independence, thrive and contribute in our communities. You will be a self-starter with the motivation and the ability to get the job done. You will form part of a wider collaborative team; you will be home based with daily travel around the region to support your clients and build relationships in the community.
WWTW supports those who have served in the British Armed Forces and their families. We specialise in developing pathways to independence as well as employment with organisations who recognise and value the unique skills and qualities of our ex-service personnel.
We are looking for a self-starter with prior experience of working with vulnerable adults with Mental Health (MH) issues; an individual who can work independently and prioritise their tasks in line with the role’s important responsibilities. Primarily you will be part of a small team of staff at WWTW, operating in a much wider collaboration that includes the NHS, Stoll, other service and non-service charities as well as local support services. Your role will be to work with clients in the community (or their homes) facilitating intense support by analysing individual needs to create a support plan that will break down barriers to a successful stabilisation and navigate the pathway of their MH journey.

In this role, no two days are the same and every day will bring new challenges. Internal training will be provided and we encourage our staff to develop their own personal and professional skills.
