The Royal Free Charity exists to provide an environment in which patients of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, encompassing the Royal Free, Barnet and Chase Farm hospitals, receive the best care possible.

This includes raising essential revenue income for ground-breaking work, such as The UCL Institute of Immunity and Transplantation and the Charles Wolfson Centre for Reconstructive Surgery, both based at The Royal Free. The internationally renowned work means that we are able to give hope to people who often believe they have no other available course of treatment.

The last year has seen significant changes at our charity, bringing renewed focus and a level of ambition not previously present in our fundraising.

As we come to the end of our existing strategy, we are focused on developing a wider fundraising portfolio, which meets the highest professional standards. Our recent Covid-19 Emergency Appeal also provides a unique platform on which to build. The charity has raised £2m and has doubled the size of its active database in the process.

The location of our charity presents significant opportunity for high value fundraising, particularly major gifts. So, we are excited to be recruiting for a Head of Philanthropic Partnerships, a new role responsible for growing our income across major gifts, trusts and corporate.

We are looking for a skilled major donor fundraiser, with high standards. A background within health/medical is certainly not essential; more important is your track record of delivery, an outstanding ability to build effective long-term relationships for the charity and ambition to do more for our beneficiaries. You may be an existing ‘Head of’ elsewhere, but we’re very happy to support the professional development of a senior manager looking to step up into their first leadership post.
