Head of Finance

Salary in the range of £35-39,000 (pro rata) per annum 21 hours per week

The Bumblebee Conservation Trust (BBCT) is looking for a highly motivated individual to lead the management of its finance team. This is an exciting, newly created role whereby you will be responsible for managing a team, ensuring high standards of financial management, which is at the heart of the role. The successful applicant will lead on the charity's financial control, planning, compliance and reporting.

As well as leading the production of key financial management information you will be part of the Trust’s Senior Management Team, ensuring an environment of tight financial control and delivery of the Trust’s financial strategy, in alignment with the overall vision and strategy.

In a busy and varied environment, you will lead by example and support the Finance Manager and her team.

A passion for nature would be desirable with an ambition to develop a keen interest in bumblebees.

This is a part-time, permanent position with the opportunity for home working and / or based at BBCT’s offices in Stirling or Eastleigh

Job Purpose:

  • Create long-term financial plans which align with the charity’s strategic and business plans.
  • Develop and implement finance policies and practices that safeguard the security, probity and use of funds.
  • Responsible for the finance functions of the Bumblebee Conservation Trust (The ‘Trust’).
  • Provide accurate, timely and comprehensive analysis, advice and support to the CEO on finance matters including Management Accounts and Budgets.
  • Ensure the Trust’s Board of Trustees remain informed on finances
  • Ensure the administration and maintenance of efficient day to day general accounting duties including the closing of accounts, ensuring propriety at all times.
  • Ensure that all funds are managed in accordance with the Trust’s policies, procedures and best practice.
  • As a member of the Senior Management Team collaborate with colleagues on Trust-wide strategic issues.
