Job Description

Reporting into the Head of Fundraising, the Senior Individual Giving Officer will be responsible for raising income to support the work of BC across all individual giving activities including implementation of a major donor programme. You will be able to create, distribute and manage multi-channel campaigns to increase income in line with BC's ambitious conservation and science plans.

As Senior Individual Giving Officer, you will have a proven track record of developing, producing and distributing numerous fundraising appeals to raise significant income. You will have experience of leading the development and implementation of a successful major donor programme, including identifying potential new donors, developing relationships and stewardship in order to increase levels of giving. You will also lead on researching and identifying new opportunities to increase income.

Experience of line management is essential as the Senior Individual Giving Officer will also be responsible for the line management, training and development of a part-time Fundraising Officer.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop, produce and distribute three/four major fundraising appeals each year, liaising with relevant colleagues.
  • Lead on development and implementation of a major donor programme, including identifying potential new donors, developing relationships and stewardship of new and existing major donors and running events, in order to increase levels of giving.
  • Plan and organise at least three Crowdfunder appeals each year, including identification of suitable projects in line with BC's operational priorities.
  • Research, identify and take advantage of opportunities to increase income from other initiatives, eg sponsored events, text giving, Big Give, Give as you Live, Give as you Earn etc.
  • Work with the Head of Individual Giving to develop a pipeline of organisations to approach to increase income from businesses and corporates.
  • Lead on development of regular giving programmes and effective administration to ensure appropriate levels of servicing are achieved.
  • Schedule fundraising and marketing campaigns to ensure that supporters are not overloaded with requests and high quality digital/postal communications are maintained for all BC contacts.
  • Work with the Marketing & Campaigns Manager to develop and maximise opportunities to increase supporters via a wide range of engagement campaigns.
  • Maximise the use of technology and BC's CRM database to enhance fundraising success and develop an effective supporter journey.
  • Ensure all fundraising requests are segmented to appropriate audiences and that fundraising preferences and BC's data protection policy are adhered to at all times.
  • Responsible for ensuring gifts are acknowledged and donors are thanked and kept up to date with BC's project and conservation successes.
  • Undertake research and monitor fundraising trends and activities to help identify new individual giving initiatives to increase income.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of fundraising information on the BC website, and Branch/Staff SharePoint areas of the website.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following experience:

  • Ability to develop, plan and implement fundraising plans and strategies.
  • Experience of writing inspiring and compelling appeals and fundraising communications.
  • Experience of running a successful major donor programme to increase giving levels.
  • Good knowledge of GDPR and Fundraising Regulations.
  • Experience of working with CRM databases and email marketing platforms.
  • Analytical experience.

This role will require an initial two/three days a week in Lulworth during the induction period. However there is the ability to be based out of offices in Winchester or Salisbury, or partly from home as the organisation supports flexible working.
