Hours: 22.5-30 hours per week               

Location: Cloverleaf Head Office, Dewsbury   

Responsible to: CEO

Direct Reports: Up to 5 manager level staff (TBC for successful applicant)   

Pay: £35,000 FTE (pro rata for part-time hours)

Other: This post, and annual salary review, are subject to annual performance appraisal. Appointment subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) enhanced with barred list check.  Two satisfactory references and evidence must be provided of a right to work in the United Kingdom.

Overall Purpose:

This is an exciting opportunity to join the senior management team of an advocacy organisation now in it’s 10th year of continuous growth.  Cloverleaf Advocacy delivers a wide range of advocacy and carer support services across the North of England.  This role will have responsibility for the business development and quality assurance of the organisation, working alongside the CEO and board of trustees to provide strategic direction to the organisation.

The postholder will be responsible for the business development of the organisation which will include the planning, preparation and submission of successful tenders and funding applications through to implementation. The role will also contribute to the business development for Cloverleaf’s training centre, Cloverleaf Connect.

The role will be responsible to engaging with external agencies, stakeholders and local and regional decision makers to build strong partnerships and ensure local intelligence is fully embedded in funding bids.

The role will work closely with, and deputise for (when required), Cloverleaf’s CEO.

The post-holder will be expected to have a high degree of autonomy in relation to time management, development and prioritisation.

KEY TASKS

Strategic planning:

  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the organisation working closely with the CEO, Board of Trustees and Sub-Groups
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of sector and policy developments and support the effective communication of these throughout the organisation.

 Business Growth and Development:

  • Outline opportunities for development and diversification following an initial evaluation of strengths and risks to the CEO.
  • With the CEO, develop and oversee the monitoring of service delivery contracts and grants.
  • Produce clearly written, well-researched funding proposals and tenders that reflect information from local teams and fully address the requirements of any specifications and application criteria
  • Contribute to the continued development of a ‘tender library’
  • Build effective relationships with stakeholders including commissioners.
  • Develop and maintain a wide range of delivery partnerships with other organisations
  • Represent and promote the organisation within the sector and at local, regional and national forums
  • Support service managers to identify service gaps, potential development opportunities and secure sources of funding to enhance local capacity.
  • Support the development and implementation of the organisation’s marketing and communications strategy.

Financial:

  • Appraise the financial impact of new business proposals, including reviewing of contract/agreement documentation
  • Provide support for the annual budget setting process to the Finance Director, CEO and Trustees

General Business Operations:

  • Support the procurement of HR, legal, insurance, premises, ICT and Health and Safety Services
  • Support the development and review of organisational policies and procedures
  • Ensure that quality assurance systems are developed and implemented effectively

Organisation and Staffing:

  • To work in manner which embodies the values and culture of the organisation.
  • Effectively lead and manage direct reports ensuring regular reviews, personal development and training needs are met
  • Contribute to a work environment that recruits and retains exceptional staff and volunteers
  • Lead in our culture of continuous development and learning.
  • Support with organisation wide projects and processes as needed.
