Job Details
The Aspinall Foundation’s mission is to prevent the extinction of endangered animals. We work globally to protect animals from the threats facing them such as poaching, deforestation and the illegal wildlife trade. Our overseas project teams work with schools, communities and Governments in Gabon, Congo, Madagascar, South Africa and Java in some of the world’s most fragile environments to develop a balanced and sustainable future for the wildlife and people living side by side. By working in partnership with our two wild animal parks in Kent we have sent hundreds of captive born endangered animals back to the wild to support and restore native wild populations.
We have a fantastic and rare opportunity for an experienced senior fundraising professional to join the charity based in Kent on its ambitious journey as we scale up for income growth. You will be responsible for all aspects of Individual Giving which represents over half of the annual income for the charity. With the backing of a great brand, you will aim to reverse the decline in regular giving and use innovative new methods combined with sound charity experience to recruit and retain individual supporters. You will ensure there are effective plans in place to capitalise on the ground-breaking work of The Aspinall Foundation overseas, it’s incredible partner Wildlife parks in the UK and its high-profile animal moves from this country back to the wild.
This is a newly created role forming part of the senior team, reporting to the Director of Fundraising and responsible for agency partner relationships with possible direct management responsibilities.
You will be responsible for reversing the decline in regular giving, and develop new and innovative fundraising strategies to raise funds from individuals. You will form a key role as part of the Senior Leadership team.
Key objectives:
- Lead the delivery of the targets for Individual Giving across income and expenditure budgets.
- Set strategy with the Director of Fundraising to reverse decline and grow other areas of individual giving including legacies, digital and on park donations.
- Set campaign strategy across the year to highlight the work of The Aspinall Foundation and to attract donations from new and existing donors.
Responsibilities:
- Manage relationships with agencies and Marketing teams from Port Lympne
- Work strategically with management and collaboratively with colleagues as a strong team player.
- Ensure that TAF is fully compliant with GDPR and the Fundraising Code of Practice and any other fundraising legislation.
- Use data to create insight driven campaigns
- Lead the development and implementation of multi-year plans and budgets for the four key aspects of the programme: acquisition, development and retention, legacy marketing and community fundraising.
- Monitor the performance of the individual giving programme. Lead and manage the process of management/KPI reporting and budget reforecasts, reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis to the Director of Fundraising.
- Input and act as a key lead into planning for the wider strategic remit of the Fundraising team.
- Monitor the market for emerging opportunities for potential new marketing channels and products relevant to the individual giving programme.
- Ensure the individual giving programme benefits from the knowledge and insight of the overseas teams and accurately reflect its work, priorities and brand, whilst engaging the emotions of the audience to solicit financial and other support.
- Build a plan in collaboration with Marketing teams for how to engage onsite visitors to become donors to TAF.
- Provide leadership to the members of the individual giving team and line management to direct reports. Nurture staff and set development plans to build skills and career development opportunities, where appropriate within the charity.
- Contribute to TAF’s fundraising events, with ideas, guest lists and by personally attending whenever required.
- Participate in fundraising and organisational meetings and the ongoing development of the organisation.
- From time to time, help other areas of the charity to meet their project aims.
- Be flexible, as part of a small organisation, and willing to take on different responsibilities if/when required.
Desired skills:
The successful individual will be highly motivated, entrepreneurial and enthusiastic with strong leadership skills. Highly experienced in this field, this role gives the opportunity to shape strategy, deliver high growth and be a part of taking an established charity to the next level, ideal for those on the path to Director of Fundraising roles whilst working onsite at one of the UK’s most stunning Wildlife Reserves.
Salary: To £57k depending on experience
