The Aspinall Foundation’s mission is to prevent the extinction of endangered animals.  We work globally to protect animals from the threats facing them such as poaching, deforestation and the illegal wildlife trade.  Our overseas project teams work with schools, communities and Governments in Gabon, Congo, Madagascar, Java and South Africa in some of the world’s most fragile environments to create a balanced and sustainable future for the wildlife, habitats and people living side by side.  By working in partnership with our two wild animal parks in Kent we have sent hundreds of captive born endangered animals back to the wild to support native wild population growth.

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced senior fundraising professional to join the charity based in Kent, on its ambitious growth journey as we scale up for success. With the backing of a great brand, you will aim to build a portfolio of Corporate supporters and will be required to work with the team to develop a pipeline, build relationships and create engaging proposals to solicit support.

The Role:

You will identify, cultivate and secure the support of key corporate prospects and develop new business though researching and prospecting new supporters.  You will bring a network of your own contacts and be expert at networking and finding new relationships with companies that align to the values and mission of The Aspinall Foundation.  You will be experienced and successful at making cold approaches and can write and deliver engaging pitches to win new donors. You will work to an annual income target, and regularly report back on your pipeline development and forecast.

Other duties will include:

  • Driving the creation of a strong pipeline to achieve high value, multi-year partnerships across major global brands and corporate foundations.
  • Create compelling and commercially astute propositions to secure long-term strategic relationships with new and existing partners.
  • Support on Account Management where required.
  • Produce and maintain an annual plan for meeting the new business target, which will deliver programme and project investment, commercial opportunities, gifts in kind and pro bono support.
  • Maintain detailed and high-quality prospect research.
  • Identify decision-makers among key prospects and build relationships.
  • Stay close to developments in our overseas work and continually seek opportunities that might be attractive to corporate prospects.
  • Participate in fundraising and organisational meetings and the ongoing development of the organisation.
  • Deliver confident presentations and talks to corporate partners, networking events and conferences as required.

The Person:

We are looking for candidates with previous experience that will ensure success in the role. The successful candidate must:

  • Be experienced and successful at making cold approaches and able to write and deliver engaging pitches to win new donors.
  • Have a proven track record of successful new acquisitions across a broad spectrum of income streams.
  • Have a sound understanding of budgets and finance.
  • Be a highly motivated, entrepreneurial and enthusiastic individual.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to analyse opportunities.
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Have a proven ability to work effectively with others to achieve common goals and targets.

Candidates will also need to have an awareness of data protection regulations and knowledge of the Institute of Fundraising codes of practice. Have a valid driving licence and their own transport, be willing to travel and be flexible and willing to work the occasional evening and weekend as required. All applicants must have right to work in the UK.
