Back Up are looking for an outstanding appeal director to join us during an exciting period of growth and change.
In April 2020, we will launch an ambitious five-year strategy to be there for every single person affected by spinal cord injury – ensuring no one is left behind. Your role will be crucial to the success of these plans.
Who should apply?
Our ideal candidate is an ambitious appeal director who possesses highly effective project management skills, has a proven track record of securing six and seven figure gifts within the charity sector and can open doors to new networks. You will be a proactive self-starter with an energetic approach to fundraising, together with the ability to influence and negotiate with senior internal and external stakeholders.
What does the role involve?
Working with our fundraising development board, you will devise and implement the strategy for our major appeal. You will take the lead on this income stream and ensure its success by identifying key prospects, utilising our contacts to expand our network of major donors, initiating a programme of enlistment and fundraising events to cultivate high net worth individuals, and planning the appeal’s delivery phases, timetable and key milestones. This is a truly fantastic opportunity to transform the service capability of a vital national charity.
What will the major appeal funds go towards?
Our services have a hugely positive and lasting impact on many people’s lives but, following the release of new data from the NHS, we learned that we’re not reaching around 1,500 newly injured people and countless family members each year. Against a backdrop of continuing health care cuts and shorter hospital stays, there is an incredibly urgent need to build the capacity of our services to be there for every single person affected. To deliver on this commitment in our next five-year strategy, we will launch a major appeal to raise over £5 million.
What is the timetable for the recruitment process?
Deadline for applications: 19th January 2020
1st stage interviews with Back Up: w/c 27th January 2020
2nd stage interviews: TBC
Target to appoint: February 2020
