Job Details

You don't become any less important as you get older, and yet, all over the world, people are suffering as they age, because of poverty, lack of support and ageism.

Age International, the international arm of Age UK and a member of the HelpAge global network and the Disasters Emergency Committee, is supporting older people living in some of the world's poorest places, by reducing poverty, improving health, protecting their human rights and responding to emergencies.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced direct marketeer to lead our Individual Giving team.

If successful, you will lead the individual giving team of four staff, developing and implementing strategies to grow our supporter base and income, developing new products and propositions as well as supporter journeys, and liaising closely with international programmes, creative agencies and our colleagues at Age UK. You will be a member of Age International's senior management team.

About you

You will:
*Have at least three years' experience leading a fundraising team, preferably within Individual Giving
*Be creative and collaborative in solving problems and looking for opportunities
*Have demonstrable experience and success in developing individual giving strategies and plans
*Be experienced at managing budgets including processes such as reforecasting
*Have experience of taking new individual giving propositions to market - with success
*Be a proven people manager
*Demonstrate the ability to positively influence and engage stakeholders and teams within Age International
*Have an interest in, and commitment to, international development
*Be able to undertake international travel

Company

Age UK is the country's largest charity dedicated to helping everyone make the most of later life. We believe in a world where everyone can love later life and we work every day to achieve this.

We help more than 7m people every year, providing companionship, advice and support for older people who need it most.

Why we’re here

  • 2.9 million older people (65+) in Great Britain feel they have no one to turn to for help and support
  • 3.9 million older people in the UK agree the television is their main form of company
  • Nearly 1.2 million aged 65+ in England have unmet care needs
  • Over one third of people aged 60+ are worried about the cost of living
  • In low and middle income countries only 1 in 4 older people receive a pension

Our vision

Age UK's vision is to make the UK a great place to grow older.

We want everyone in later life to:

  • Have enough money
  • Enjoy life and feel well
  • Receive high-quality health and care
  • Be comfortable, safe and secure at home
  • Feel valued and able to participate

Our exciting initiatives

There are exciting projects happening in lots of departments right now. The Switched Off campaign and petition to save free TV for older people has over 600,000 signatures and generated lots of public awareness.

We are right in the middle of our Knit Off, which is part of this year’s Big Knit with Innocent Smoothies. We have a competition amongst staff teams for the best knitted hat, most hats, most strawberry hats and more, so hundreds of employees are knitting small hats in their spare time. It is actually really good fun!

Perks
Here are just a few:

  • Flexible working policies to help you maintain your work-life balance
  • Competitive salaries
  • 5 weeks holiday per year plus the option to buy 5 more days
  • 9% employer pension contributions
