The CTU group is a small not-for-profit who use funding from local businesses to implement innovative and exciting projects such as public realm regeneration and area strategies, meanwhile use, coworking spaces, greening and public art. Working for us, you will see the impact of your work on a daily basis – we pride ourselves on getting things done in a self-starting environment.

Core responsibilities:

  • Working directly under Head of Projects to manage and execute sub-projects independently – ranging from small green infrastructure projects, to public art, to running training opportunities for local businesses
  • Assist Head of Projects on project administrative tasks
  • Taking responsibility for the writing of planning applications and other permissions processes required on your individual projects
  • Liaising with project stakeholders such as the local authority to reach a design that is agreed and aligned with local requirements, neighbourhood plans etc
  • Liaising with project agencies such as graphic designers, training providers and landscape designers, guiding their work in line with overall project objectives
  • Helping to organise engaging consultation processes and events
  • Research new project and funding opportunities, assisting with funding applications
  • Research awards and help with applications
  • Feed project updates back to communications officer and where necessary feed into social media channels

On an average day, you may:

  • Meet on site of a pocket park project with a local organisation looking to use the space for community workshops
  • Post on social media your current project updates with new progress photos
  • Visit a new potential project site location and take photos which can be sent to the relevant landowner to start discussions
  • Research appropriate funding opportunities for the new project
  • Have a meeting with our Comms Officer to discuss a strategy for advertising a new training course we are hosting for local businesses, to ensure you get enough people signed up.

You will report directly to the Head of Projects. Your role is a support function for projects across the board and will be wide ranging: you might organise a share cargo bike scheme, a food waste reduction initiative, or be tasked to ensure a new pocket park has well designed and informed signage.
