Role Description:

The Camden Town Unlimited group requires a communications officer to work in a fast-paced, projects-focused environment. The role will require communicating with stakeholders, communities, local and central government via social media platforms, newsletters and video and written blogs.

The CTU group is a small not-for-profit who use funding from local businesses to implement innovative and exciting projects such as public realm regeneration and area strategies, meanwhile use, coworking spaces, greening and public art. The role will also help manage the Association of Town & City Managements social media via Hootsuite and support their event schedule helping coordinate around 20 meet ups a year.

ATCM is a membership organisation that promotes excellence in the management of urban areas, running international programmes and working with partners like Google, Visa and the Bank of England.

Core Responsibilities

  • Communicating project progress to local stakeholders and successfully engaging them in giving feedback and ideas
  • Using social media platforms to create exciting content that shows personality, engaging an ever-growing audience in the work of CTU and enhances our profile across our projects including Camden Highline and Camden Collective
  • Maintaining a fast-paced and imaginative social media presence which promotes our own activities as well as Camden Town and Euston as destinations to visit
  • Eloquently communicating our work, successes and innovation in order to place CTU as thought leaders
  • Arranging regular correspondence with members with well-designed newsletters, and putting your videography experience to work in producing at least monthly video blogs
  • Engaging with interesting stakeholders such as business owners, institutions and community groups to develop social media stories that help us achieve our objectives
  • Liaising with external agencies and freelancers such as photographers and communications agencies on one-off projects and campaigns
  • Managing our ongoing relationship with a communications and branding agency for campaigns

On an average day, you may:

  • Schedule social media posts across platforms
  • Meet with a local stakeholder who has an interesting story for social media
  • Write a brief for a photographer to take new photographs of the area
  • Send an email to colleagues to start collating information for the next newsletter
  • Do a site visit of one of our projects to take photos and create an update blog
  • Assist in the planning of Camden Inspire Awards party
  • Start to write an engagement plan for the design phase of an upcoming project

You will report to the Head of Projects. Your role will be to represent the work of your colleagues on a variety of communications platforms, searching for new and inventive ways to increase engagement and enhance our profile. You are a support function to all project managers.

Experience

University graduate.

Skills

Confident in all Microsoft skills

Basic to intermediate understanding of videography and willing to dedicate time to refine skills

An eloquent writer who can adopt a specific tone and style whilst showing a sense of character

Entirely familiar and comfortable with the workings on Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Campaign Monitor and other social media platforms (and scheduling platforms)

Understanding of social media and marketing campaigns, paid advertising features, and confident in crafting an inventive strategy which boosts reach and engagement

Creative thinking around events, workshops etc. which may complement online activity and campaigning

Able to work efficiently under pressure, organizing your day to ensure you have prioritized tasks.

Comfortable taking the initiative to work independently

Proactive in creating content, engaging with people and searching for new ways to communicate

Confident and extrovert in nature, enjoying meeting new people, attending events and networking
