About Us

YMCA St Paul's Group (YMCA SPG) has a bold vision of 'places where young people thrive and communities flourish'. The Group emerged from the coming together of four separate YMCAs over an 18-month period. The group, which is the largest YMCA In Europe works in over 40 communities across London and beyond and is one of the largest providers of supported housing in London, providing a safe place to stay for over 1,200 young people and residents each night.

As well as accommodation, care homes, education and training, the Association is focused on the transformation of communities through its health and wellbeing centres, youth services and children, and family programmes.

The Appointment(s)

At the heart of YMCA SPG is a strong board and governance structure; it is these people who set the strategic direction as well as ensure the appropriate safeguards are in place as we seek to navigate our way forward.

YMCA SPG is looking to strategically strengthen its Board of Trustees as well as bringing additional Committee members to supplement the Board Development and Asset Committee, the Audit and Risk Committee and the newly formed Performance Committee.

There are several distinct skill-sets which would complement the expertise of the Board and the Committees:

  • Asset Management
  • Housing and Development
  • Finance, Audit and Risk
  • Income Generation and Fundraising
  • Infrastructure, Governance and IT
  • Social Care, Health and Wellbeing

The YMCA is founded on Christian values and whilst there is no occupational requirement to be a Christian, it is essential that you share and respect the values and the ethos of the organisation.

YMCA SPG is committed to having a diverse and inclusive Board of Trustees. We actively encourage applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic and female candidates as well as those from a younger demographic as we recognise that we are under-represented.

Board meetings will be held in central London at the head office of YMCA England and Wales at the Barbican. Performance Committee meetings are currently held at YMCA SPG's Surbiton office. All meetings take place in the early evening.
